Jocelyn Roman, Acting Deputy Director
Ms. Roman was recently appointed as Acting Deputy Director for Juvenile Probation and Facilities, where she will oversee youth supervision and facility operations. With a deep understanding of juvenile justice and a passion for transformative rehabilitation programs, she is committed to shaping the future of services for justice-involved youth.
Her career with the Los Angeles County Probation Department began in 2005 as a Deputy Probation Officer, initially assigned to Challenger Memorial Youth Center (CMYC) before transitioning to the Quality Assurance Bureau as a DPO II. Driven by her dedication to youth rehabilitation, she returned to CMYC, where she worked at Camp Ellison Onizuka. In addition to her duties as a DPO II, Ms. Roman played a pivotal role in implementing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) by facilitating small groups and training officers.
Demonstrating strong leadership, she later served as a supervisor at Camp Joseph Scott, where she continued to mentor and guide both youth and officers. Her commitment to operational excellence led to her promotion to Director at Central Juvenile Hall. She also served as Director at Camp Glenn Rockey and Central Adult Investigations (CAI). She was the Assistant Superintendent at Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Hall for several years, followed by Senior Director, where she played a key role in facility operations and program development.
In 2024, she was the Superintendent of Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall, leading critical operational and compliance initiatives. Her experience took her to the field, where she oversaw the Adult Services Court Officer Team (ASCOT) and CAI, ensuring efficiency and adherence to departmental and judicial standards.
A proud graduate of California State University, Long Beach, she holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Corrections. Passionate about collaboration and leadership, she looks forward to working alongside the department’s dedicated officers to drive positive change and create meaningful opportunities for the youth we serve. With a steadfast commitment to rehabilitation and mentorship, she is eager to foster an environment that empowers young individuals to build brighter futures.
