Senior Detention Services Officer Dies in the Line of Duty

LOS ANGELES— The Los Angeles County Probation Department is mourning the loss of Senior Detention Services Officer Stanley Guyness, a dedicated staff member.

On Thursday, September 7, 2023, Sr. DSO Guyness was working at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall when he collapsed. Probation employees rushed to his aid and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He was transported to a local hospital. Hospital staff contacted the Probation management team at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall and informed them of his passing.

Interim Chief Viera Rosa said, “Today, we are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague and friend, Officer Guyness. Senior Detention Services Officer Guyness died while in the line of duty. His commitment to his work was exemplary. Our deepest condolences go out to the Guyness family, loved ones, fellow officers, and Probation Department staff. His legacy will continue to inspire us in our work and lives. He will be greatly missed. I join all our probation family and Department staff members as we mourn our colleague.”
