During the week of July 15th through the 21st, 2018, people across the United States and Canada will join together to recognize the work that probation, parole, and community supervision professionals do for our public safety. This year, the theme is “Clients, Employees, and Communities – Power through Partnerships”. Working together makes for stronger bonds between colleagues, community partners, and with those under supervision.

Members of our community are encouraged to join together during Pretrial, Probation, Parole Supervision Week to honor those who work to make our communities a safer place to live. This week we will be spotlighting the employees who make Los Angeles County Probation the finest probation department in the world.

The Los Angeles County Probation Department has unveiled “We Are L.A. County Probation”, a short video chronicling the passion, dedication and heart of those who serve Probation clients and their communities with excellence. The video debuted at the July 17, 2018 meeting of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors as part of the recognition of Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week.

Employee voices and images of Probation sites and employees frame the piece, showing some of the diverse work that L.A. County Probation and its over 6,000 employees do on a daily basis. Most importantly, the video shows how the commitment to public service drives the work of employees across the Department.

“We are L.A. County Probation highlights just a fraction of the hard work that Probation employees do each day,” said Chief Probation Officer Terri McDonald. “Every member of our staff plays a critical role in affecting the lives of our clients and making our communities more safe.”

Produced in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Office of Education, the Probation staff testimonies in “We Are L.A. County Probation” are a small sample of the amazing and inspirational stories that L.A. County Probation staff encounter over their careers.
