Mother of Youth at Barry J. Nidorf Arrested on Fentanyl-Related Charges
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County Probation Department today announced the arrest of Jeny Morenoparra in connection with a 2023 incident involving the attempted introduction of narcotics into juvenile facility Barry J. Nidorf.
Morenoparra, the mother of a youth housed at the facility, was originally contacted by a Supervising Deputy Probation Officer in 2023 and found to be in possession of more than 30 pills that later tested positive for fentanyl.
Following a review of the case, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman reopened the matter and obtained an arrest warrant. On July 11th, Morenoparra was taken into custody, without incident, by the Los Angeles County Probation Department’s Special Enforcement Operations (SEO) Team.
“Introducing drugs into a secure facility endangers public safety and lives, and undermines rehabilitation,” said Guillermo Viera Rosa, Chief Probation Officer. “We appreciate the District Attorney’s focus on accountability and public safety.”
The case remains under investigation and is being handled by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Morenoparra is calendared for arraignment on August 1, 2025.
