FREE RIDE SHARE SERVICE LAUNCHED THROUGH NOVEMBER TO SUPPORT FAMILY VISITS
AT CAMPUS KILPATRICK
LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles County Probation Department, in partnership with the Department of Youth Development (DYD) and the Women’s Freedom Center, launched a sponsored ride-share service that will last through the month of November, to help parents and guardians visit youth residing at Campus Kilpatrick, now an all-female and gender-expansive youth facility in Malibu.
Beginning this month, families can request a no-cost ride from Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey to Campus Kilpatrick during weekend visiting hours. The initiative is designed to make visiting more accessible for families who may face transportation barriers due to distance or cost.
“Family connection is one of the most important parts of a young person’s rehabilitation,” said Chief Probation Officer Guillermo Viera Rosa. “By working with our staff and partners, we’re ensuring that no parent is prevented from visiting their child because they can’t find or afford a ride. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to accessibility, equity, and supporting positive outcomes for the youth in our care.”
The program reflects the County’s ongoing efforts to strengthen family engagement and reduce barriers to visitation, especially as Campus Kilpatrick begins its new role serving youth through a trauma-informed, gender-responsive approach.
Families interested in participating can contact the Campus Kilpatrick Family Liaison CVKFamilyLiaison@probation.lacounty.gov or call (818) 889-1353 for more information and scheduling. Rides must be requested in advance to ensure space availability.
