Juvenile Charges Breakdown

DKC provides group living, individualized schooling, health services, and intensive mental health programs. The center is a closed suitable placement for males. In addition, two Hope Centers are onsite to help de-escalate youth with acute behavioral issues.

 

Juvenile Charges Breakdown

As of September 15, 2026, Dorothy Kirby Center houses juveniles for various charges. The most common offenses include:

  • Violent crimes (murder, attempted murder, assault, battery, robbery, kidnapping, arson, carjacking): 44%.
  • Property crimes (burglary, theft, vandalism): 21%.
  • Drug-related offenses (possession, trafficking): 0%.
  • Weapons violations: 17%.
  • Probation violations (repeat offenses or failure to comply with terms): 21%.
  • Sex-related offenses: 0%.

Note:
Some youths have overlapping charges. The above percentages are approximate.
Each juvenile’s detention length is case-dependent, with judicial discretion applied to sentencing.
