Pretrial Services Bureau is part of the Los Angeles County Probation Department’s Adult Field Services.  Since 1963, Pretrial Services has been providing defendant background information and release recommendations to the court and other public entities concerned with community safety (law enforcement, prosecution and defense attorneys; and the Probation Department) on matters related to pretrial detention, and alternative sentencing.

Pretrial Services has employees located in the majority of courthouses throughout Los Angeles County, and currently administers seven different programs.
