Los Angeles County Probation Department Completes Youth Transfer from Campus Kilpatrick to Barry J. Nidorf

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County Probation Department has successfully completed the planned transfer of youth from Campus Kilpatrick to Barry J. Nidorf, as part of the Department’s phased depopulation strategy for Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall.

The movement of the eight youth housed at Kilpatrick was completed this week, without incident and in close coordination with the Department’s safety, health, and educational partners. All youth have been safely received at Barry J. Nidorf, where probation officers, mental health staff, health services, and educational teams will continue to provide comprehensive support and services.

Campus Kilpatrick now has no youth housed at the facility. The Department is preparing the site for the next phase of its transition—reopening Kilpatrick to serve female youth in a specialized, small-group program environment tailored to their needs.

This relocation effort reflects the Department’s commitment to creating safer, more rehabilitative spaces for youth in custody, while aligning with the court-approved plan to reduce the population at Los Padrinos.
