Para Español oprima aqui: Español
The Juvenile Reimbursement Unit was established to collect support from parents/guardians of the minor while detained in a County facility pursuant to Section 903 of the California State Welfare and Institutions Code (WIC). Section 903 WIC states that “a father, mother, spouse, or other person liable for the support of a minor, the estate of that person, and the estate of the minor shall be liable for the reasonable costs of support of the minor while the minor is placed, or detained in, or committed to, any institution or other place pursuant to an order of the Juvenile Court.”
JRU sends and receives letters, and processes Financial Statements related to court ordered detainment costs. JRU is also responsible for answering questions and determining the responsible party’s ability to pay the minor’s detainment costs.
