Probation/L.A.P.D. CRASH Ride-Along

Deputy Probation Officers ride-along with LAPD CRASH units serving the South Bureau. Officers are equipped with a laptop computer for remote access to automated probation systems. DPOs also enforce the terms and conditions of probation as they observe probationers in the community who are in violation of their conditions. Officers assigned to this unit carry a caseload of approximately 10 probationers. Supervision is designed to provide gang-suppression by enhanced monitoring of high-risk cases. DPOs spend most of their time in the field.
