Adult Field Services Bureau

The Adult Field Services Bureau consists of the Pretrial Services Division (PTS), Adult Investigations, Adult Supervision, Specialized Programs and Special Services functions conducted at nineteen field offices and more than 19 additional branch offices in court locations. Pretrial Services Division completes approximately 88,095 eligibility assessments/reports a year. Adult Investigations conducts approximately 72,000 investigations per year and AFSB has under its supervision approximately 62,000 adult probationers, resulting in 92,000 supervision reports per year.

Pretrial Services Division

Pretrial Services consists of the following units and programs:

  • Bail Deviation Program
  • Drug Court Program
  • Early Disposition Program
  • Own Recognizance Program
  • Electronic Monitoring Program
  • Civil Court Name Change Petitions Program
  • Drug Treatment
  • County Parole Program
  • JAWS/PAAWS
  • Adult Compliance Teams(ACT)

Adult Investigations

With an investigative staff of 220 Deputy Probation Officers, AFSB conducts approximately 72,000 investigations per year utilizing the latest in computer technology, including the use of an information management system and video interviewing of defendants in custody. The types of investigations conducted by Investigation DPOs are as follows:

  • Early Disposition Investigations
  • Pre-plea Investigations
  • Probation and Sentence Investigations
  • Post Sentence Investigations
  • Bench Warrant Pickup Investigations

Adult Investigations also includes the following units and programs:

  • Adult Services Court Officer Team (ASCOT)
  • Early Disposition Program (EDP)
  • Custodian of Record
  • Bench Warrant Unit
  • Central Records

Adult Supervision

AFSB has approximately 62,000 adults under the supervision of approximately 330 Deputy Probation Officers. There are a wide range of programs and types of supervision. Among the services performed in Adult Supervision are the following:

  • Supervision Intake Team (SIT)
  • Kiosk Report-In System
  • Automated Minimum Service Caseload (AMS)
  • BIG MAC (BIG)
  • Child Threat (CTH)
  • Domestic Violence (DOM)
  • Family Caseloads (FAM)

  • Narcotic Testing (NTU)
  • Community Assessment Services Centers (CASC)

Specialized Programs

The function of specialized programs is to enhance the Department’s operation in areas such as collections and restitution, communications and information, special interactions between State agencies, and registration and DNA collection activities.
